Hyperhidrosis

More commonly known as excessive sweating can be an issue that can cause all number of personal issues. Hyperhidrosis, although common it is still quite the nuisance for many.

Hyperhidrosis can impact your decision in outfits and colours to avoid embarrassment,. Even things such as job interviews, important presentations and momentous occasions can fill you with dread. Even if you are feeling a little hot under the collar in these situations, you don’t necessarily want everyone to be able to see that clear as day too! It can also impact your decision on what you eat – if you are a devil for a bit of spice in your food this very common trigger can most certainly be a pain.

This is where The Banwell Clinic comes in… Did you know, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) can be treated with Botulinum Toxin A (Botox). Which is more commonly known for its anti-ageing benefits of relaxing the wrinkles.

This very popular treatment is quick and relatively pain free (it does involve needles remember, so we cannot guarantee no minor discomfort!) and is highly rated by both men and women.

How?

Botulinum Toxin A (Botox) is injected into the under arms aiming to temporarily* quieten the signal to the sweat glands to reduce the excessive production of sweat.

*We use the term temporary as the toxin gradually begins to wear off between 4-6 months after treatment at which time it is repeated.

What to expect at my appointment?

Following a full consultation and medical history a topical anaesthetic cream is applied. The treatment is tailored to each individual and varies due to the size of the underarm area, men tend to have a couple more injections due to a slightly bigger underarm area (sorry gents!). Following the anaesthetic time the Botox will then be administered.

Downtime?

There is little associated downtime with this treatment. We do recommend refraining from exercise for 24 hours after treatment, as tempted as you may be to go and test drive your soon-to-be dry underarms. The outcome will continue to improve over the next 7-14 days.

What else do I need to know?

As with all aesthetic treatments the entire outcome is also down to each individual and your body. Some notice full absence of underarm sweat whereas some have a 80-90% reduction which is a huge and fantastic improvement compared to prior to treatment.

Treatment prices start from £600 available at The Banwell Clinic in East Grinstead and Harley St.
