Mr Banwell demonstrating the weight difference between B-Lite implants and traditional implants

B-Lite breast implants are the newest technology of lightweight implants.

But what does that mean?… One of our most frequently asked questions surrounding B-Lite implants.

  • There is no change in the surgical procedure
  • All the materials used in B-Lite are well known and biocompatible
  • Patented microsphere-gel adhesion (no separation and leakage in case of implant rupture)
  • B-Lite gel is more transparent under mammography than normal silicone allowing more of the breast to be viewed

Many patients ask what the difference is and what the long term effects are on the implants or their body. The differences between B-Lite implants and traditional implants are only positive.

In simple terms, the lighter the implant the natural gravitational effect is slowed down. Of course, every individual is different, as are our bodies, skin loses elasticity over time. However, the lighter the implant gives the best opportunity to maintain optimal results.

Am I suitable for this type of implant?… another of our frequently asked questions!

B-Lite implants can benefit patients from all backgrounds, for example;

A patient having their first breast augmentation;

30% lighter implant for the size of the implant, this can only be a positive, surely?!

Reduce the speed of gravitational effects (such as sagging) which is inevitable in all of us, as we age our skin loses its elasticity. Meaning the life span of these implants may be longer than the traditional implant (purely from this aesthetic point of view).

Especially with our patients in the slightly older age brackets this is a huge positive as their skin elasticity has already started to reduce.

This in turn means optimal results are maintained for longer meaning replacement implants would not be necessary as soon. (there is no life span of the physical implant itself, often exchange is due to personal preference and aesthetic reasons)

It is believed that B-Lite gel silicone is more transparent under mammography than normal silicone allowing more of the breast to be viewed – which will be of benefit to women especially those undergoing breast screening.

Patients having replacement implants with B-Lite implants.

30% lighter implants for the size means if you do choose to increase in size, even slightly (which is very common for replacement implants), you would not notice an increased weight to your chest than if you were to have a traditional weight implant.

Again, the gravitational effect, with the reduced weight of implant this will in turn reduce the speed of this process.

Again, as it is believed that B-Lite gel is more transparent under mammography than normal silicone allowing more of the breast to be viewed – which will be of benefit to women especially those undergoing breast screening.

Mr B is seen here demonstrating the weight difference between a traditional weight implant to a B-Lite implant.. the difference can easily be recognized. (both implants are the same size, the only difference is the weight!)
